Following an outstanding performance from Abbey Brass at the London and Southern Counties Brass Band Contest the band were awarded 3rd place, this is the best result by the band at the contest and follows the excellent result in Oxford where the band were placed 1st.

Abbey Brass are the highest ranked 4th section band in Oxfordshire and with both a beginner band and training band we look forward to continued success in the future.

Here is a photo of the trophies the band has won at these contests.

We are a traditional British brass band from Abingdon-on-Thames, in the Vale of White Horse, South Oxfordshire.

As a registered charity, our aim is to provide education and training for young people and adults in the playing of brass instruments, to promote the appreciation and understanding of brass band music and stimulate interest in the art of brass band playing.

Within the Abbey Brass organisation, there are currently three brass bands (Main Band, Training Band and Beginners Band) and groups for new learners. We are currently on the lookout for people who want to learn how to read music and to play a brass instrument.

We are also interested to hear from those who can already play an instrument and are looking for a band to join. We rehearse in Fitzharrys School – for more details, see our About Us page.
