We’ve a busy set of engagements coming up over what we hope will be the sunnier half of 2016.
Appleford Village Fete
On Saturday 30th April the training band will be playing at Appleford Village Fete. There will be lots to see and do including all kinds of stalls, birds of prey, a dog agility contest, steam engines and military vehicles.
In May we’re off to the annual Whit Friday contests.
Held since 1884, this year’s Saddleworth & District Whit Friday Brass Band Contests take place on the afternoon and evening of Friday 20th May. With a number of players unable to make the trip this year, we’ve invited along friends from neighbouring bands to make up the numbers. Our contest piece is Cross of Honour.
On 30th May, that’s the bank holiday Monday, we’re leading the parade to Harwell Feast before playing a couple of sets amongst all the other exciting stalls and activities.
The parade starts at 11am and is followed by an afternoon of entertainment, games, a car boot sale and lots to eat and drink.
Royal Celebrations – Long Wittenham and Blenheim
On Saturday 11th June the training band will be helping Long Wittenham mark the Queen’s 90th birthday while on Sunday 12th June the main band are taking part in celebrations to be held in the grounds of Blenheim Palace where there’ll be big screen live coverage of activities in the Mall and lots more including, we are promised, the chance to shake hands with Winston Churchill.
Blenheim Flower Show
We’re back at Blenheim on both Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June to provide the entertainment at the Blenheim Flower Show.
If you happen to be in Henley on Sunday 10th July, why not come an enjoy a picnic by the river and listen to some great brass band music. We’re playing at the wonderful bandstand in Mill Meadows between 2 and 4pm.
On Saturday 30th July, the training band will be performing in on the green by Wootton and Dry Sandford Community Centre for WADS-STOCK 2016. There’ll be stalls, beer, bands and lots more.
